but you know that when the truth is told, that you can get what you want or you can just get old.

We find ourselves back at the start here, eh friends? a blank slate. all my previous blog posts somehow wound up deleted during an update to my site; but it’s kind of cleansing, in a way.

If you’re new here: hi, I’m Kati! I’m a potter, painter, singer, mother, and philanthropist for mental health awareness. I make mugs and donate proceeds to charities that help people.

I also like to joke that I “write” but mainly I just come to my blog and ramble on about how hard life can be and how you’re never alone; but honestly, I think it’s really important. I’m a firm believer that connection is what grounds us, what keeps us tethered to this earth. and so, I…connect. through all my struggles. and I hope you, too, will do the same.

I’m not sure about the rest of you, but I’m still waiting for the time of my life that will be “easy.” And “peaceful.” it seems like every year just brings more chaos to my life & to the world, and it’s disheartening, isn’t it? here lately it’s increasingly difficult to find the good, and that’s…well, hard. we aren’t equipped to deal with it alone, and yet the world seems to push us into a solitary box more and more each day; away from community, and God, and connection. but if you want the truth: I have seen the goodness, even amongst wreckage. time and time and time again. and the only way out, is through.

Hurricane Helene ripped through western North Carolina a few weeks ago, the deadliest storm they’ve ever experienced in the mountains of WNC. Hurricane damage in Florida or on the coast is expected (albeit no less horrific), and the people prepare; but no one really saw it coming at this scale, in Asheville & the surrounding counties. With dozens of people still missing, and over 100 dead, some cities & towns were more or less leveled. Asheville in particular has such a strong arts culture – two of our major clay & ceramics providers, Mudtools & Highwater Clays, lost their facilities entirely – and it breaks my heart to see friends suffering in light of all that has happened.

If we can count on nothing else, we lean on friends & community & God. our charity donations for this sale will go to the local United Way chapter of Asheville & Buncombe county, to aid with rebuilding & helping the people of WNC.

You can learn more about United Way here.
